About Dry Ice

Dry Ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide (CO2), a gas that occurs naturally in the earth’s atmosphere. If you are unfamiliar with carbon dioxide (CO2), this is the gas used to give soda fountain drinks their fizz. Carbon dioxide is also a byproduct of several industrial processes, like ethanol production.

Dry ice is extremely cold (-109.3°F or -78.5°C). Dry ice does not melt like regular ice. Instead, it turns directly from a solid to a gas, a process called sublimation. Since it does not leave a liquid residue and is extremely cold, it is ideal for keeping items frozen and for use in a process, called Dry Ice blasting. Dry Ice blasting is a non-abrasive, nonflammable and nonconductive cleaning method that is very effective and environmentally friendly.
